🌿 A New Look for the Lumberton Library! 📚

We are so excited to share the completed exterior improvements at the Lumberton Public Library!

Through a $2,000 façade improvement grant through the Lumberton Main Street Association, the Lamar County Library System was able to make several improvements to the library's exterior, including updated exterior signage, decorative rock beds, new edging, stabilized planting areas, and landscaping improvements around the entrance and Hwy 13-facing façade.

The goal was to improve the library's visibility from Hwy 13, clean up and define the landscaping around the building, help with drainage and erosion, and give the entrance a more welcoming and cohesive look. Those were the goals we put into our original grant proposal, and we think you can really see the difference!

We are incredibly grateful to the Lumberton Main Street Association and Tommy Jones for helping us improve this space for our community.

A huge thank you also goes to everyone who gave a helping hand/back/knees to make this project possible! We are proud of the transformation and excited to continue making our libraries welcoming, beautiful spaces for Lamar County.

Take a look through the photos to see the transformation! 🌿📚

We are so excited to officially introduce the newest addition to Oak Grove Public Library!

Our Little Free Library was gifted to us through the Little Free Library community, and we are thrilled to now have it installed along the sidewalk and walking track in front of the Oak Grove Library. It is ready to welcome readers of all ages to take a book, leave a book, and discover something new!

But we have to brag on our Oak Grove team for a minute, especially our librarian, Rebecca!

Rebecca hand-painted all of the beautiful wooden panels on the library, giving each side its own unique artwork. From the sweet fox to the armadillo reading a book to the chicken surrounded by books, every detail was created with our community in mind. And if you know Rebecca, you know she poured a LOT of love into this project!

We are incredibly proud of the creativity and heart our Oak Grove staff bring to everything they do. This little library is such a wonderful reflection of the branch and the community we serve.

So the next time you're walking the track, stop by, take a book, leave a book, and admire the artwork while you're there!

A huge thank you to the Little Free Library community for helping us bring this little book-sharing spot to Oak Grove. We can't wait to see where it goes from here!

Early Closure Notice

Out of an abundance of caution, all Lamar County Library System branches will close today at 5:00 p.m.

Although conditions in Lamar County seem stable, flooding continues to impact surrounding areas, and water levels remain a concern in several nearby communities. With additional rainfall possible this evening, we believe an early closure is the safest decision for our staff and patrons.

We encourage everyone to use caution while traveling and to avoid flooded roadways.

Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe.
