Good morning! I want to personally thank everyone for your support and encouragement. Although I am disappointed in the results of the election, I feel like a winner. Running for public office is one of the most rewarding and humbling experiences a person could ever participate in. I have had the unique privilege to meet so many incredible people and make many new friends across District 1 Lamar County. I have learned so much about our communities and the specific needs in each one. I will continue to advocate for the great people of District 1 on issues you have expressed to me such as Leash Laws and speed control apparatuses for legally platted neighborhoods, sewage issues, and the protection of our natural resources and homeowners/landowners property values by saying “No” to Solar Farms. Lastly, I want to congratulate Mr. Steve Lampton. He is a good man and has been a strong leader in our community. Being a steward of democracy by serving as a public official is a privilege as well as a heavy task to shoulder. I ask that we all pray for Steve as well as our other local and state officials to make wise choices and decisions as we respectfully hold them and ourselves accountable. Thank you again for this great opportunity! God Bless you all!

As elected officials, we are public servants to those we represent, not lords and masters. Elected officials are entrusted to represent their constituents and to protect their rights at all times. And when these rights are threatened, we are duty bound to defend them. Many elected officials have forgotten this.

August 8th Primary Election is just over 2 months away. Political signs are popping up everywhere like spring flowers. Candidates are scurrying about to convince their constituents why they should cast their votes for them. People ask me all the time, “Why did you decide to run for public office?” My answer is simple, “I love people!” It doesn’t matter if you are 8 or 108, I want to know your story! I want to know about you, your family, your faith, and the other things that are important to you. Being a public servant is not a position of authority, but that of a position of great privilege and responsibility to lead and serve. You can’t effectively lead and serve without communication. Good communication begins with good listening! As your District 1 Supervisor, I will listen and I will respond with Honesty, Integrity and Accountability as I serve the people of Lamar County.

Over the last week, I have had the opportunity to speak with citizens throughout Lamar County. I am grateful for all of the encouragement that I have received from phone calls, messages, and face to face conversations.

One of the greatest concerns discussed is transparency in our local government. Transparency fosters trust. Trust is the essential ingredient for governance.

A specific concern I have been questioned about is my position on the proposed Minkar Solar Farm near the Okahola community between Purvis and Oak Grove. Although solar energy has its benefits, Lamar County is not the place for a solar farm. Destroying 1700 acres of irreplaceable wildlife habitat, causing harm or killing endangered species, potential loss of property values for adjacent homeowners / landowners along with other valid concerns is unacceptable and irresponsible.

As your next District 1 Supervisor, I pledge to lead and advocate for transparency in our local government and serve the citizens of Lamar County with Honesty, Integrity, and Accountability.

"Transparency is for those who carry out public duties and exercise public power. Privacy is for everyone else."
