City of Purcell – Power Outage Update

At approximately 2:00 PM today, a large power outage impacted numerous residential and commercial customers in Purcell.

We were notified by the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA) that the issue originated within the substation. Power was fully restored to all affected customers by approximately 3:48 PM.

The outage was caused by a failure of metering equipment inside the substation, which is not owned by the City of Purcell. To restore service, OMPA isolated the faulty equipment and performed switching procedures to reroute power, allowing customers to be served by a secondary transformer within the substation.

OMPA will continue coordinating with OG&E to complete any necessary repairs.
