A special thank you to LT Alex Davenport for taking the initiative to restore the bird feeder outside station 1. His efforts have helped bring a little extra wildlife and enjoyment back to the station, and creating a welcoming environment for personnel and visitors alike. We appreciate his attention to the small details that make a positive difference in our workplace and community!

It was an honor to welcome District Director Dana Goulet from the office of Congressman Greg Steube today. She stopped by to visit with City Fire staff and generously dropped off gift baskets for the team. They even had the opportunity to check out the new FAT TRUCK that City Fire recently received. Thank you Congressman Greg Steube and District Director Dana Goulet for your continued support and everything you do for the City of Punta Gorda!

This week, the City Fire Department, City Manager’s Office, and City Police Department are attending the Governor’s Hurricane Conference in West Palm Beach. The conference provides a valuable opportunity for the City to strengthen hurricane preparedness, identify additional resources, and gather important information regarding the State’s expectations for this year’s hurricane season.

It was also great to see the City Fire Department’s amphibious Fat Truck on display at the conference. WINK News from Southwest Florida interviewed Chief Holden Gibbs in front of the Fat Truck to discuss the new fire apparatus the City purchased to better serve residents during natural disasters.

Today we honor all the incredible mothers, and all the mothers who wear two titles with pride: Mom and Firefighter/First Responder.

To the women who kiss their children goodbye, leave family dinners unfinished, miss holidays, school events, and bedtime stories, all to answer the call when someone else is having their worst day, we thank you.

City Fire would like to give a special Mothers Day shout out to two of our very own firefighter moms, Firemedic Tammy Sherkus and Firemedic Jadilyn Heldenbrand, and to our Executive Assistant Dani Vrabel, Thank you for all your sacrifices you give to the City of Punta Gorda.

The Punta Gorda Police Department & Fire Department are excited to announce our 5th Annual Public Safety Youth Academy! 👮🚓🚒

This FREE summer camp gives kids ages 10–14 the opportunity to experience what it’s like to work in public safety through hands-on activities, demonstrations, fitness challenges, K9 demos, guest speakers, pool day, crime scene activities, and much more!
