WSU Libraries celebrate the upcoming graduations of one of the largest contingents of student employees in their history: Some 20 undergraduates will walk during the university’s May 9 Commencement at Beasley Coliseum. Five of these students—representing the Washington State University Department of Art, WSU Carson College of Business, WSU School of Design + Construction, College of Arts and Sciences at Washington State University, and WSU Electrical Engineering & Computer Science—are featured in the article at https://libraries.wsu.edu/blog/2026/05/04/library-student-workers-embark-on-new-journeys-after-graduation/. Congratulations to all our graduating student employees! Photo of Kahyun (Kate) Uhm by Daniel Manwaring.

Thanks to a $1.2 million gift from Fluke Corporation, engineering classrooms and labs across five campuses are being equipped with professional-grade tools for students to gain hands-on experience with as they build skills for their industries.

At WSU Pullman, the Owen Science and Engineering Library is offering several of these tools for student checkout, giving WSU Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture students the opportunity to use testing devices that may not be readily accessible to them otherwise.

Hear from Owen science, engineering, and mathematics librarian Chelsea Leachman about the capabilities of these tools and how they will elevate development and discovery for students.

We’re two hours away from the end of CougsGive for another year! Thank you for your generosity, for your commitment to WSU, and for your investment in WSU Libraries and WSU Press today. Donor support is crucial in how WSU Libraries can continue to support our community in myriad ways to direct and inform the successful work of our university students, faculty, and staff.

One example of the importance of donor giving is WSU Libraries’ Dimensions Lab, which provides computing resources and media creation tools to WSU students, faculty, staff, and community members. Two of its most popular spaces are the Audio Lab and the new Synth Lab; the Audio Lab offers a quiet acoustic space and technology for music recording, voiceovers, podcasts, and sound for video, while the Synth Lab contains hardware developed and used throughout the last 50 years that have been essential to the history of electronic music, specifically hip hop, EDM, and experimental music.

CougsGive is your opportunity to donate to the Library Excellence Fund, which supports the WSU Libraries’ continued efforts to bring state-of-the-art technology resources to the WSU community. Won’t you make a gift for these efforts today? When we receive 30 gifts to the fund, we unlock a challenge gift of $35,000 by an anonymous donor. To learn more about library giving opportunities, please go to https://cougsgive.wsu.edu/librariesandpress.
