May means many things going on at Sunnyside including end of the year testing, 5th grade camp, spring field trips, special visitors, and our music performance! It was a super month of learning inside and outside of the classroom. And now, here come the last two weeks of school!

This week, as part of AAPI month, Mrs. Laird and Mrs. DenHerder’s classes had an opportunity to learn about Korean culture from Ms. Kim. Part of our learning included how to make folded paper tiles and play a game called Ddakji. Today, they got to practice together during their regular Classroom Buddies time. :)

Congratulations to Franklin Elementary, Lincoln Middle School, and Sunnyside Elementary for being recognized by the Washington School Recognition Program for outstanding performance during the 2024–2025 school year! 🎉

Franklin Elementary was recognized for achievement in ELA, Math, and Attendance Rate. Lincoln Middle School was recognized for growth among students in one or more racial or ethnic groups. Sunnyside Elementary was recognized for growth among students in one or more racial or ethnic groups and low-income students.

This recognition is a tremendous accomplishment, with only 16% of schools statewide earning this honor. We are incredibly proud of our students, staff, families, and school communities whose hard work and dedication made this possible. 💙
