If you’ve spent any time on the square today, you may have noticed a few familiar faces moving around with jump bags, radios, our ATV, or even the ambulance nearby.

These dedicated folks are EMRs from GCFR and Giles EMS, along with our EMS personnel, all working together to help keep everyone safe while the community enjoys Sundrop Fest.

The photos below show just a few of the many people out and about today, ready to help if needed.

We hope everyone has a great time, makes good decisions, looks out for one another, and stays safe. Enjoy the festival!

Stay weather aware today! As we get anymore updates we will pass them along!

⚠️ There is a Slight Risk (2/5) for severe thunderstorms today into this evening evening over much of the Mid-South. Damaging winds are the main threat with large hail as a secondary threat. Two rounds of storms are expected. The first round will occur this morning into early this afternoon. The second round will occur later this afternoon into this evening.

Attention Giles County Residents:

As many of you have seen, we recently began a project utilizing inmate work crews to turn downed trees into firewood. Our goal is to provide firewood to residents in need to help heat their homes during the colder months.

While we are unable to deliver the wood, anyone who may benefit from this program is encouraged to contact Shelby Franklin at 931-363-3505 to schedule a time for pickup.

Unfortunately, we understand that some individuals may attempt to take advantage of programs such as this. Anyone found taking wood for the purpose of reselling it will no longer be permitted to participate in the program.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to those who generously donated and helped make this program possible. If you are interested in supporting or donating to the program, please contact Shelby Franklin at the Giles County Sheriff’s Office.

We would also like to thank the Giles County Highway Department for allowing us to utilize a portion of their yard and for their continued support of this program.
