SHOOTING INVESTIGATION UPDATE/ REQUEST FOR INFORMATION

On Sunday, June 6, 2021 at approximately 12:25 a.m., Pueblo police officers responded to an address in the 100 block of N. Main Street regarding a shooting that had just occurred. Upon arrival, officers discovered that an adult male had been shot. The male was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation was initiated, and it was discovered that the gunshot victim was an off-duty Pueblo firefighter who was with a group of off-duty coworkers. After coming to the aid of a homeless man who was being harassed by one or more individuals, a male fired several rounds in the victim’s direction from a sedan that was parked outside of a nearby establishment. On the same day, the Pueblo Police Department issued a second press release informing the public that new information had been obtained that cleared the initial suspect.

Upon further investigation by Pueblo Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Section, the suspect has now been identified as 38-year-old Stevan Jesus Hernandez. An arrest warrant has been issued for Hernandez for one count of 1st Degree Assault and eight counts of Attempted 1st Degree Murder.
