Thank you GlobalMindED Conference for an amazing experience to CSU-Pueblo! STEM Center for Education and Engagement, Assistant Director, Sendi Estrada was a panelist for "Girls & STEAM: Equity, Inclusion, and Excellence" moderated by Sylvia Martinez from Constructing Modern Knowledge. Sendi says, "I am very grateful to be sharing the great work that CBASE, an HSI STEM grant, is doing to support more women in STEM. As the advisor of the Society of Women in Engineers and an advocate for my students, I feel that it is important that women know that they are being heard and supported in STEM. "

The two proud first-generation college students that attended the conference had a positive experience and are very motivated to continue on their path of academic excellence.

Victoria Perez is a CBASE Research Intern in the Biology Research Community and a STEM major. She says, " was an amazing experience that I am grateful for. At this conference, I was able to practice my networking skills, meet people with similar mindsets, and hear from great speakers. The sessions I attended talked about diversity within the STEM field, financial aid for first-generation college students, and other related workshops to name a few. This conference was definitely one for the scrapbooks!"

The other student, Armando Denova is an aspiring law enforcement professional majoring in Criminal Justice. From the he says, "I had an incredible experience at GlobalMindEd. I met people of all kinds of background, strengthened my confidence, gained networking skills, and grew as an individual. Being around like-minded individuals and those who want my success to better the future seems in hindsight impossible, but nevertheless,s this conference showed me that people want us first-generation students to succeed. I would like to thank Sendi Estrada for her efforts in helping us through the entirety of the conference, professor Danilo León for being my mentor and attending the conference with me, and all the great people I met and developed friendships with."
