As we close out EMS Week 2026, I want to personally thank our local partners, agencies, teams, and supporters for donating their time, cooking meals, and providing food and goodies for our crews throughout the week. I would also like to thank my admin team, as there is no way I could do half the things I want, without your help. Your support never goes unnoticed from me or the crews.
Today, we celebrated with our annual EMS Week family picnic. I started this tradition for our crews and their families as a time where we can come together in reflection, celebration, and joy for another year of service and sacrifice. Every year, these events continue to grow — not only with new employees joining our family, but with the loved ones who stand beside them every single day.
While our frontline heroes may not always receive the recognition they deserve, their support systems often go even more unseen. Our crews sacrifice personal moments with their families — graduations, school events, birthdays, holidays, and sporting activities — all for the chance to ensure someone else doesn’t miss theirs during an emergency.
To the spouses, children, friends, and families of our Mesta crews: thank you. Thank you for supporting them through the difficult days, the missed moments, and the long shifts. Thank you for helping them find the strength to come back and do it all again after the tough times.
Now, I ask a favor of everyone reading this: Have you checked on your first responder “people” lately?
It’s important to celebrate and recognize Police, Fire, EMS, and hospital staff — but beyond the celebrations, there is a reality many carry silently. Every year, we lose too many first responders because of the darkness, trauma, and pain they have seen and endured.
Please know there are always open hands to grab, shoulders to cry on, and ears willing to listen. If you or someone you know needs help and doesn’t know where to start, reach out to me or anyone on my team. We will help connect you with the resources and support you need.
Please don’t let your last celebration be the final time you experience the smiles, friendships, families, and memories like the ones you see in these pictures
With sincere gratitude, respect, and appreciation,
Erik Dickover
