All Project Read offices are closed today for Memorial Day. We thank all those who have served this country and remember those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. “It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God such men lived.” — George S. Patton

Project Read helps adults build the reading, writing, math, and digital skills they need to reach their goals through one-on-one tutoring and small group instruction. Because every adult deserves the chance to read with confidence and create a brighter future.

Playing with rhyme, rhythm, and storytelling helps build reading and writing confidence at any age. At Project Read, adult learners strengthen literacy, math, and digital skills through personalized tutoring and small group instruction—one word, one sentence, and sometimes one limerick at a time.

There once was a learner named Lee,
Who said, “Reading’s too hard now for me.”
But with practice each day,
Words no longer get in the way,
And now Lee reads confident and free!

A mother’s support can shape a child’s future long before they ever step into a classroom. From reading bedtime stories to encouraging learning at home, mothers play a powerful role in building literacy, confidence, and opportunity. Happy Mother’s Day to the women helping write brighter futures every day.

Project Read students are adult learners right here in Utah—each with their own story, goals, and reasons for starting.

Our students:
✔ Are at least 16 years old
✔ Speak English competently
✔ Test at or below a high school level in reading, language, or math

We serve minority adults, low-income adults, and at-risk individuals, including people with learning disabilities. Many of our students are also navigating housing instability or relying on public assistance to meet basic needs.

What they share is not a label—but determination. They’re showing up to learn, grow, and build new opportunities for themselves and their families.

At Project Read, we meet each learner where they are through one-on-one tutoring and small group instruction in reading, writing, math, and digital skills.

What do you think is the most important skill adults need to succeed today? Answer in the comments.

Today we celebrate our incredible lab instructors who make learning possible at Project Read:
Cami, Isaac, Jamey, Joanna, Kacy, Katherine, and Logan

Whether they're working one-on-one with learners or leading small group classes, our teachers do much more than teach. They encourage, adapt, and show up with patience and care every single day.

Because of them, adults in our community are building skills in reading, writing, math, and digital literacy and gaining the confidence that comes with it.

Drop a ❤️ or a thank you in the comments for these amazing teachers!

That's funny.
For a moment.

But for many adults in Utah, this is what reading can feel like everyday. Frustrated. Unsure. Confused.

At Project Read, we work one-on-one with adult learners to turn confusion into confidence by building skills in reading, writing, math, and digital skills so people can navigate the world with ease.

Help someone make sense of the "mystery." Volunteer, donate, or share to support adult literacy.

Remember Jennifer? Our fabulous Morgan Stanley Fellow last year? The projects and assignments she completed for Project Read while serving have been invaluable! She managed our Google Ads, designed some HR training videos, published our student anthology, and so much more. Oh, how we miss her!

But, not to fret. We have again been approved to host another Morgan Stanley Fellow at Project Read this year. The fellowship is a 10-month, part-time opportunity for graduate students to work alongside community organizations providing community support.

✨ What you’ll gain:
• A $25,000 stipend for a 10-month, part-time (20 hrs/week) fellowship
• Hands-on experience with a high-impact nonprofit project
• Mentorship and training from leaders in community development
• Opportunities to connect with professionals across government, philanthropy, and the private sector
