Wildlife Activity Alert 🐻
I have received several calls recently regarding bear sightings on cameras and residential porches throughout our District. Due to the numerous wildfires across Utah, along with drought conditions and damage to natural food sources, wildlife are being displaced and may be moving into areas where they are not commonly seen. This can result in increased sightings of bears and other wildlife near homes, farms, and communities.
I reached out to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR), and they advised residents to take precautions to avoid attracting bears and other wildlife. Please be sure to:
-Secure all garbage and trash containers.
-Remove bird feeders if bears have been seen in the area.
-Keep pet food, livestock feed, and other attractants stored indoors or in bear-resistant containers.
-Clean outdoor grills after use.

Be aware of your surroundings when outdoors, especially during early morning and evening hours.

If you see a bear, do not approach it. Give it plenty of space and only report any concerning behavior or repeat sightings to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
Please help spread the word to neighbors and family members so we can all remain safe while wildlife adjusts to these changing environmental conditions. Below are some helpful links. Thank you.

As more Utahns head to the mountains to camp, hike and explore this summer, wildlife officials say they're sharing the outdoors with bears that are on the move in search of food.

On Pioneer Day, we’re celebrating someone who truly helped blaze a trail at Intermountain Utah Valley Hospital: Dr. Stephen Minton.

In 1979, Dr. Minton started the first non-academic Newborn Intensive Care Unit in the United States right here at Utah Valley Hospital. A few years later, he helped develop our neonatal transport team, bringing specialized newborn care to babies and families across the region.

Since then, he has helped care for more than 50,000 newborns and has made a lasting difference for generations of families. His work in clinical care, research, education, and outreach has shaped newborn care at Utah Valley and across Intermountain Health.

We’re grateful for Dr. Minton’s incredible legacy, his dedication to the tiniest patients, and the example he continues to set for caregivers today.

Thank you, Dr. Minton, for being a true pioneer in every sense of the word.

It’s a SEARCH and RESCUE day! Even our ambulance refused to work in this HEATWAVE!….so special thanks to Provo Fire & Rescue for sending their ambulance to transport our patient. Heat is a real problem-even in the mountains… take more water than normal, start EARLY morning or hey! …..stay home and binge a good show-or even hit a movie theater, no? Heat stroke, and heat exhaustion, are real. If you injure yourself…. Really REALLY real…. Thanks to UTAH COUNTY SHERIFF SAR as always and Utah Department of Public Safety for the hoists!
