We're thrilled to introduce you to Alex, our new MSW Intern. We're excited to have him join the Center and serve children and families with us.

Hi, everyone! My name is Alex, and I just started my second year of my Master of Social Work program At Utah Valley University. I graduated from Brigham Young University in 2022 and doubled majored in Psychology and Spanish Translation. In my young career so far, I have worked a lot with individuals experiencing various mental health and family crises in numerous settings. I was born and raised in the Washington D.C. area, but I have lived in Utah for several years now, and I love it here! When I have free time, I love to watch documentaries and read about a wide variety of topics, including mental health, travel, current events, and languages. I also love to hang out with my family, keep in contact with my friends, and play the piano. I am really excited to be a part of the CJC team!

The Children’s Justice Center is in need of individually wrapped snacks, water, and juice boxes for the kids we serve. With more than 1,000 children coming through our doors each year, and many appointments lasting several hours, these simple items make a meaningful difference in helping children feel comfortable and supported.

We welcome donations of individually wrapped snacks, bottled water, juice boxes, and gift cards for families in need. Items can be dropped off at the Center during regular business hours.

Your generosity directly supports the children in our community. Thank you for helping us continue this important work.

Children don’t need perfect adults. They need safe, consistent ones. The way adults respond to a child’s emotions can shape how that child understands safety, trust, and connection.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we encourage our community to focus on the small, everyday moments that help children feel seen, heard, and supported.

Being present, staying calm, and listening without judgment can make a lasting difference.

Children don’t always have the words to say when something is wrong. Sometimes it shows up in behavior, emotions, or changes in daily routines.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we encourage caregivers and community members to look a little closer, listen a little longer, and respond with patience and support.

When we recognize the signs early, we can help children feel safe, heard, and supported.

We’re excited to welcome our new summer intern, Kaylee, to the Children’s Justice Center team. Kaylee brings enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and a genuine eagerness to learn. She has already jumped in with dedication and a positive attitude, and we’re grateful to have her supporting our work this summer. Please join us in welcoming Kaylee to the CJC team.

Hi! My name is Kaylee. I am a student at UVU studying Psychology. I’m graduating later this year and will be pursuing a Master’s in Social Work. I love bingeing new tv shows (or rewatching old ones for the millionth time), spending time outdoors, and hanging out with my sister and her dog. I grew up in Utah Valley, so Provo is home and the community feels like my family. I am passionate about working with and supporting children and their families. I’m looking forward to joining the wonderful CJC team!

Mental Health Awareness Month

Children experience mental health challenges too, especially when they have been exposed to abuse, neglect, or other traumatic events. Healing is possible when children feel safe, supported, and heard.

This month, we encourage our community to:
• Listen to children and take their feelings seriously
• Learn the signs of stress and trauma in young people
• Create safe, stable, and nurturing environments
• Reach out for support when concerns arise

At the Children’s Justice Center, we are committed to protecting children and supporting their healing every step of the way.
