And with that, high school graduations come to a close. Independence, we are so proud of you. We thank our staff for a beautiful ceremony and for being the person our students need, and for our students for unwavering tenacity and perseverance in the face of every obstacle. Congratulations, graduates; it’s a milestone in your life, but it’s just the beginning. We can’t wait to see who you become.

Martin Yablonovsky, an administrator at Timpview High School, has been recognized with the Provo Way Award for his leadership, optimism, and steady support of students and staff.

His nominator, Laura Oldham, described Martin as “an incredible administrator” who takes time to answer questions, address concerns, and offer thoughtful guidance. Whether someone needs help solving a problem or simply needs to be heard, Martin responds with care, patience, and professionalism.

Laura shared that when she is struggling with something, Martin listens and gives sound, thoughtful advice. His leadership helps others feel supported, and his calm approach builds confidence in the people around him.

Recently, Martin was in charge of a celebration for all Timpview students. Several activities had been planned for the football field, but rain forced the event to move inside. It was not an easy change to make quickly, but Martin handled the situation with optimism, flexibility, and confidence.

Instead of becoming overwhelmed by the unexpected shift, he helped guide the celebration forward with a positive attitude. His response reflected the kind of leadership that makes a difference in a school community.

Martin’s steady leadership will continue to shape Provo City School District in a new way next year, as he has been named the new principal of Independence High School.

Yesterday high school grads stood again in the elementary halls where their stories began. Westridge Elementary held a hallway parade for graduates, proving what’s possible to our Westridge kids. We love this tradition, and we are so proud of our graduates!
