Had the opportunity to run Copper Hills High School Soccer and Volleyball teams through our Leadership Reaction Course. They did awesome and had a great time! This course helped them develop good communication, leadership skills, and accomplishing tasks as a team. These are skills that are constantly being developed with our members in the Utah Army National Guard. Help me welcome La’akea to the Utah Army National Guard! He came to us from another branch of military and transferred to us already qualified in a military occupational specialty because of his training from his other branch and didn’t even have to attend additional training. Our gain and the other branch’s loss!! Now he’s part of the UTARNG family. He will be working a full-time mission for the National Guard out of our headquarters building in Draper, UT. Welcome to the family!

CALL TO ACTION! Take a moment to send a note to your elected officials that our military members should keep getting paid despite a government shutdown! A government shutdown should never force our service members or their families to go without pay. Support the passage of H.R.5401 - Pay Our Troops Act of 2026 and advocate for introduction and passage of a Senate companion bill.
The Pay Our Troops Act provides the necessary funds to support our nation’s Armed Forces and Department of Defense civilian employees until regular appropriations are passed into law, or through January 1, 2027.

The message is simple but powerful: Pay Our Troops.

Everyone, please help me welcome Alamoni (Moni) as one of the most recent additions to the Utah Army National Guard. She joined a 42A Human Resources Specialist. Once she comes back from Basic Combat Training she will continue her education at BYU where she’ll eventually become a contracted cadet in BYU’s ROTC under the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP). SMP is a program where ROTC cadets are simultaneously actively trained members of the National Guard getter mentorship by units to become an officer. While finishing her degree, she can get 100% of her tuition paid for with tuition assistance. If you want to learn more about how to take advantage of the same opportunities he is Just hit me up.

Everyone, please help me welcome Christopher into the Utah Army National Guard. He is about to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in linguistics and will starting his journey towards becoming a Signals Intelligence Linguist in the Utah Army National Guard. He will be learning to speak Persian Farsi. At the Defense Language Institute in Monterrey, CA. By the time he comes home from his language school, he will come back with an additional associates degree in linguistics just by attending the language training we are sending him to and will have the education benefits to pay for the rest of his college degree if he decides to pursue his Masters. Help me welcome Mary into the National Guard family. It was extra special getting to have her uncle who is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force swear her in!

After attending basic training, Mary will attend the Army’s 91F school to receive training as a Small Arms/Towed Artillery Repairer. The skills gained in this MOS can be valuable in civilian jobs related to weapons repair, mechanics, and electronics. She’ll be using the National Guard’s education benefits to get 100% of her college tuition paid for.
