Yesterday, Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green joined Barrington school leaders, students, families, and educators to celebrate the official groundbreaking for Barrington High School!

The new building will have state-of-the-art labs, updated classrooms, new technology, a modern cafeteria, and flexible learning spaces, with completion scheduled for 2028. This project ensures that students have access to a school that is safe, modern, and designed for future generations.

You have LESS THAN TWO WEEKS to apply for the Rhode Island Pre-K lottery! Applications are due by June 22nd in order for a child to be considered for the free seats.

The RI Pre-K program offers free, high-quality learning opportunities for children who will be four years old as of September 1, 2026.

This morning, Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green joined city and school leaders in Providence to break ground on the new Robert F. Kennedy PK-8 School!

This new building represents a $75 million investment in Providence students. Through its PreK-8 model, the school will provide a consistent and supportive learning environment where students can learn and grow together from early childhood through middle school.

As we count down to America's 250th anniversary, here's another Rhode Island history fun fact! 🎆

On June 9, 1772, the British schooner HMS Gaspee ran aground near Warwick while pursuing a merchant ship. That night, a group of Rhode Island patriots boarded the vessel, removed the crew, and set it on fire. Despite British efforts, no one was ever convicted for the act, largely because local support for the raid was so strong. Rhode Island students learn about the Gaspee in grades 4, 5, and high school, per RIDE’s Social Studies Standards.

This morning, Deputy Commissioner Drew Echelson joined leaders from Providence Public Schools at Mount Pleasant High School to announce the 2025-2026 Providence Teacher of the Year, Danielle Trial Lucini!

Ms. Lucini is a dedicated music educator with 14 years of experience—including 12 years dedicated to the students of Providence. Reflecting on her teaching, Lucini emphasized the importance of encouraging risk-taking while removing barriers, empowering students to build confidence and develop their skills.
