Community Ally Coalition: The Effects of Social Media on Youth

Social media plays a significant role in the lives of young people today, but what are its impacts on youth, families, and mental health?

Join Rhode Island for Community & Justice’s Community Ally Coalition as we bring together community members to engage in meaningful dialogue, share perspectives, and explore collaborative solutions.

Together, we will:
• Foster conversations around issues affecting youth and families
• Examine the impact of social media on youth mental health
• Promote awareness, accountability, and education
• Explore solutions through diverse community perspectives

Understanding. Evolution. Growth.

In this conversation with alumni Chelcie and Sarah, we discuss how real change starts with conversation, patience, and creating space for people to be seen and heard.

For our alumni, RICJ means understanding in every direction and trusting the process as perspectives grow and voices rise.

This is YOUR space.
YOUR voice belongs here.
YOUR presence makes the difference.

Join us.
Stay tuned for our next conversation.

Got it this helps anchor the story beautifully. Here is a refined caption that intentionally names both speakers and keeps that RICJ voice strong and human:

YOUR voice. YOUR journey. YOUR impact.

In this conversation, Rose Albert, Executive Director, sits down with Steven Paré, Chairman, to reflect on the power of youth voice, leadership, and what it truly means to build community across difference.

Together, they speak to the heart of RICJ. A space where young people are not only heard, but empowered to lead, challenge systems, and create lasting change.

This moment is part of our 20th Anniversary storytelling series, lifting up the voices that continue to shape this work every single day.

There is so much more to come.

Stay tuned to hear from more alumni and youth who are carrying this mission forward in their own powerful ways.

This is what empowerment looks like.

Every voice you hear. Every moment you see.
This is young people stepping into their power, building confidence, and creating real change in their communities.

At RICJ, we don’t just talk about leadership, we create the space for it to grow. Because YOUR voice matters here. YOUR story belongs here.

Your support helps provide opportunities, mentorship, and life changing experiences for youth across Rhode Island.
