Today, Dorcas International joined together with Refugee Dream Center, Lawyers Association of Rhode Island, local representatives, and legal advocates to celebrate a major victory for refugee and immigrant communities.

This week, a federal court ruled in favor of plaintiffs in Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island et al. v. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services et al., striking down policies that halted asylum processing, froze immigration benefits, and discriminated based on nationality. This decision reaffirms that fairness, due process, and dignity must remain at the center of our immigration system.

We are grateful to the attorneys, advocates, supporters, and community members who stood together throughout this effort. While the work continues, today we celebrate this important step forward.

A federal court has ruled that several immigration policies implemented by the Trump-Vance administration were unlawful, including policies that halted the processing of certain asylum applications, froze immigration benefits, and considered nationality in immigration decision-making. The ruling came in a case brought by a coalition of immigrant-serving organizations and labor unions, including Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island.
