Starting on Wednesday, 9/9 and expected to be completed by Friday, 9/11 - the following streets will be closed for roadwork during the hours of 7 am - 4 pm:
🚧Daboll Street from Bucklin Street to Elmwood Avenue
🚧Princeton Avenue from Buckin Street to Elmwood Avenue

Traffic will be detoured around the work zone and we encourage residents to take extra precautions while driving in these areas for the safety of our crews.

La Policía de Providence solicita ayuda para identificar a un menor que ha resultado gravemente herido en un accidente en el que se vio implicado una patineta eléctrica en el cruce de Broad St. y Atlantic Ave.

Se le describe como un varón hispano de piel clara, de entre 15 y 16 años aproximadamente, 5’9” de estatura, 120 lbs. de peso y con el pelo castaño y rizado. Llevaba una sudadera oscura y conducía una patineta negra con marcas rojas.

📞 Si sabes quién puede ser, llama al Departamento de Policía de Providence (PPD) al 401-272-3121. Los investigadores están tratando de identificarlo urgentemente y localizar a uno de sus padres o a su tutor.

🚨 PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REQUESTED

The Providence Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a juvenile who was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash involving an electric scooter at Broad Street and Atlantic Avenue.

The unidentified rider was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital with serious injuries. Investigators have been unable to determine his identity and are asking anyone who may recognize him or know who he is to come forward.

The juvenile is described as:

• Light-skinned Hispanic male
• Approximately 15–16 years old
• Approximately 5’9” and 120 pounds
• Curly brown hair
• Wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt
• Riding a black electric scooter with red markings

📞 Anyone with information is asked to contact the Providence Police Department at 401-272-3121. Even if you are unsure, please contact us if you believe you may be able to help identify him.

Due to the seriousness of his injuries, investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in promptly identifying the juvenile and locating a parent or legal guardian.

The Providence Police Traffic Bureau is investigating the circumstances of the crash.

🐾 Happy National Police K-9 Day! 🐾

Today we’re celebrating a very special member of the Providence Police Department — K-9 Busco!

Now 3 years old, Busco is a Labrador trained in electronics detection and the first electronic detection K-9 in PPD history — and only the second in Rhode Island.

Partnered with Detective Mitchell Guerra, Busco can locate hidden electronic devices, including cell phones, tracking devices and other equipment that can be critical to an investigation.

Originally trained as a service dog in Indiana, Busco had a career change and found his way to Providence. His training and placement, valued at approximately $20,000, were fully funded by the U.S. Secret Service, and he can also assist with dignitary protection when needed.

We’re proud to have this one-of-a-kind K-9 as part of our PPD family. And yes, in case you were wondering, he is a very GOOD BOY!

Starting next week, parking in Providence will get a whole lot easier! On Monday August 31st, Providence will launch a new parking permit and citation management system from Passport Parking. Using Passport, residents will be able to apply and pay for parking permits, manage existing permits, pay parking tickets, and pay for metered parking throughout the city.

These upgrades will make parking simpler for both residents and visitors. Learn more at providenceri.gov/public-works/parking-main/
