We have wonderful news to share!💜

Last night, the Rhode Island Senate voted to approve the FY27 state budget. Included within it is a $200,000 appropriation to Sojourner House. These funds will support our ongoing efforts to provide safe housing and life-saving supportive services to Rhode Islanders experiencing domestic violence, s*xual assault, and human trafficking.

Last year was the first time in Sojourner House’s history that we received an allocation in the state budget, and we’re thrilled that the General Assembly decided to DOUBLE their investment for FY27.

Between 2024 and 2025, Sojourner House’s hotline calls increased by 125%. With the demand for our services rising so substantially, funding like this is more essential than ever.

Our utmost thanks go to our leaders in both the House and the Senate, Speaker Blazejewski and Senate President Lawson, our sponsors Senator Melissa Murray and Representative Stephen Casey, and other legislative champions who advanced this legislation and helped secure vital funding for our work.
