Rhode Island Office of the State Fire Marshal Bomb Squad

This week, 3 members of the Rhode Island Bomb Squad successfully completed Open Water Diver certification. With this milestone, every member of the squad is now dive certified, expanding our capabilities to safely respond to incidents in and around the water.

Achieving this certification also opens the door to advanced FBI training and certifications focused on the mitigation of underwater explosive hazards, further enhancing the team’s ability to respond to complex threats in any environment.

Congratulations to everyone who completed the course, and thank you to the instructors who made it possible.

Apparently “not drowning” is still a job requirement. Annual watermanship assessment in the books. Distance swim, no-hands tread, and joint ROV exercises. Always good training alongside US Navy EODMU 12 – Det Newport.
