Today is an exciting and important milestone not only for Ocean State Labs, but for the continued evolution of the 195 District and Rhode Island’s growing life sciences and innovation ecosystem.

This facility provides something we worked towards for a long time - dedicated lab infrastructure designed specifically to help early-stage companies start, scale, and remain here in our state. The 195 District is proud to be both a funding partner in Ocean State Labs, and to have played a leadership role in bringing 150 Richmond, the building that houses this facility, to life.

Our Friendly Faces in the District interview series starts with Ted Howell from Howell Legal. He works in the CIC Providence and is a huge supporter of this co-working space for a number of reasons, including location, community, and the opportunity to engage with people from diverse backgrounds. We had a great conversation about his practice and how working in the 195 District has had a positive impact on his career!

Today, we celebrated the ceremonial ribbon cutting for the 195 District Park pavilion! We were joined by , Brett Smiley, Speaker of the House , Senator Lou DiPalma, our Chairman , Secretary of Commerce Stefan Pryor, of ARO, Chris Maury of Shawmut Construction, and Co-founder of the Guild Jeremy Duffy to celebrate this occasion.

This is a major milestone for both the District and the park. The new pavilion is an exciting amenity that will elevate the experience for all park visitors and enhance programming throughout the park year-round.

The green roof on the 195 District Park pavilion has been installed! 🌿 The roof is planted with succulents and is a visual continuation of the park’s greenery. It also improves the building’s energy efficiency and stormwater management.

We’re one step closer to opening. Stay tuned for more updates.
