🌳More Liberty Tree planting ceremonies are coming to your community this September!

Join your community for this upcoming ceremony:
📣 Richmond – September 1, 5–6PM | Richmond Town Hall

In the 18th century, Liberty Trees served as gathering places where colonists shared ideas, organized, and sparked the spirit of independence. Today, communities across the state are planting new Liberty Trees to honor that legacy and celebrate the values of freedom, unity, and civic engagement.

Each ceremony will include remarks from local leaders, a reflection on the significance of Liberty Trees in Revolutionary America, and the dedication of a tree as a living symbol for future generations.

As part of Stories That Shaped Us, Janice Hawthorne Byrne shares how childhood stories around her family’s Thanksgiving table sparked a journey into her ancestry—eventually uncovering at least seven ancestors who served as Patriots during the American Revolution.

Her story is a reminder that Rhode Island’s history lives on through the families and communities who call our state home.
