City of Prosser has proclaimed September as National Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, recognizing the importance of raising awareness, reducing stigma, and reminding those who may be struggling that hope, help, and support are available.

A copy of the proclamation was presented to Genesis with THRIVE, who also requested that the Wine Country Road Bridge be illuminated teal from September 8–14 in recognition of Su***de Prevention. The teal lights serve as a reminder that no one should face life's challenges alone and that every life matters.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to connect with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, or visit https://www.bfhd.wa.gov/health_topics/safety/suicide_prevention

YOU LEFT | THEY WAITED | WE WILL INVESTIGATE

They didn’t understand why the car didn’t stop. They didn’t understand why you never came back. All they knew was that the person they trusted was suddenly gone.

Abandoning an animal is cruelty. In Washington, animal cruelty in the second degree is a gross misdemeanor, punishable by:
• Up to 364 days in jail
• Up to a $5,000 fine

The City of Prosser will investigate every report of animal abandonment and pursue prosecution when evidence supports criminal charges. If you can no longer care for an animal, ask for help. Find a safe placement. Make responsible arrangements. Do not leave them on the side of the road.
