Prosser Leadership – Ag Day 🚜🍒

Another Prosser Leadership Ag Day is in the books! Participants had the opportunity to experience firsthand the diversity and innovation within our region’s agricultural industry.

The day began with a visit to the Yakama Nation Fish Hatchery, where the group learned about vital efforts to support fish populations, including an impressive look at the lamprey restoration project.

From there, the class traveled to Zirkle Fruit Company, where Becca DeKlein and Dave Copeland shared insights into their cherry operations and wine production—highlighting the impact of agriculture on both our local economy and global markets.

A huge thank you to Don Aubrey for his leadership and coordination in organizing such a meaningful and educational day.

The Prosser Leadership class had an impactful and informative Public Services Day, learning firsthand how local city and county departments serve the community.

The day was hosted by Rachel Shaw, City Administrator, and Mayor Gary Vegar, who helped set the stage for a meaningful look inside public service in Prosser.

The class began with a Lunch & Learn at Brewminatti with Katy McLaughlin, Prosser Library Branch Manager.

At the Benton County Courthouse, Commissioner Michael Alvarez and Lorene Roe, Chief Deputy Auditor, provided insight into county government operations and the critical role they play in serving residents.

City Hall tours included presentations from Toni Yost (Finance Director/HR), Marty Groom (Public Works Department), and Nick Alsbury (Building Official), Mayor Vegar and Rachel Shaw highlighting the essential behind-the-scenes work that keeps the city running smoothly.

The day concluded with tours of:
đźš” The Prosser Police Station led by Sergeant Scott Orate and Officer Jon Cox
đźš’ The Prosser Fire Station led by Fire Chief Charles Damron

Public Services Day offered the class a deeper appreciation for the dedicated professionals who serve the Prosser community every day.
