🚒 **BEHIND THE HELMET: Sean Poole**

For Sean Poole, being a firefighter is about one thing above all else: **serving his community**.

After one year in the fire service, Sean has already found a career that combines his passion for helping others with his work as a paramedic. Whether he’s responding to a fire, a medical emergency, or one of the many unexpected calls that come through the station, Sean appreciates that no two days are ever quite the same.

One of the things he says people may not realize about the fire service is just how **diverse the calls can be**. Firefighters are called upon for so many different situations, making every shift a little different and always keeping them ready for whatever comes next.

When it comes to the tools of the trade, Sean’s favorite is the Halligan, thanks to its versatility and ability to serve multiple purposes on a call.

Away from the station, Sean enjoys spending time with his two dogs and heading outdoors to hunt. In fact, if he weren’t a firefighter, there’s a good chance you’d find him doing just that! When he’s looking for a local favorite, **Nacho Margarita** is his go-to spot.

But at the heart of it all, Sean says the most rewarding part of being a firefighter is simply **being able to help others**.

And his safety message to our neighbors is one worth remembering:
🔥 **Never leave a burn unattended.**

We’re proud to have Sean Poole serving alongside us and look forward to sharing more stories from Behind the Helmet! 🚒❤️

🚒 BEHIND THE HELMET: Meet Captain Will Morse! 👨‍🚒

For Captain Will Morse, a career in the fire service started with a childhood fascination. Growing up near the fire department, he loved hearing and watching the trucks respond to calls. Eight years later, that fascination has become a commitment to serving his community. ❤️

🚑 Will recently added another accomplishment to his journey, by completing paramedic school.

When asked what he finds most rewarding about the job, Will said it’s “being able to show up when someone is having one of their worst days and make it just a little bit better.”

🔥 Will also wants our community to know that, outside of the city, firefighters throughout Newberry County are volunteers. In fact, volunteers make up roughly 70% of the country’s fire service—neighbors giving their time to be there when their community needs them most.

🛠️ His favorite piece of equipment? The Halligan, because of its versatility. From prying doors to assisting with searches and chocking wheels, it’s a tool that can do a little bit of everything.

⚠️ Captain Will’s Safety Tip: Never leave batteries charging unattended, and keep heat lamps away from flammable materials.

We’re proud to have Captain Will Morse serving our community! 🚒❤️
Thank you for all you do, Will!

Stay tuned for our next Behind the Helmet spotlight! 👀

🚒 BEYOND THE HELMET: MEET JOHN! 🚒

We’re kicking off our Beyond the Helmet series by introducing you to our Second Assistant Chief, John!

John has been serving our community for the past 9 years, but his connection to the fire service goes back much further than that. Growing up with a dad who served full-time with Lexington County Fire Department and volunteered with Little Mountain Fire Department, John was surrounded by the fire service from an early age. It didn’t take long for that influence to spark a passion of his own and lead him to become a firefighter.

For John, the fire service is about so much more than answering calls. It’s about giving back to the community, being there when someone needs help, and knowing that he gave everything he could to make a difference. ❤️

When he’s not at the station, John stays plenty busy as a Warehouse Manager at Truck supply companies and running his own landscaping business, J & R Landscaping LLC.

But if you really want to find John when he’s off duty, there’s one place you should probably look first — on the water with a fishing pole in his hand! 🎣 Bass fishing is one of his favorite ways to spend his free time, and when he’s not fishing, there’s a good chance you might spot him at Hawg Heaven. 🐷

There’s a lot more to our firefighters than the helmets and gear they wear. They’re parents, spouses, friends, coworkers, business owners, outdoorsmen, and members of the same community they proudly serve.

That’s what Beyond the Helmet is all about — giving you a chance to get to know the people behind the gear and the personalities that make up our department. ❤️

Stay tuned as we introduce you to more of our crew! 🚒

🚒 Beyond the Helmet: A New Series from Fairview Fire Department.

As we recognize September as Firefighter Appreciation Month, we wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to the people behind the gear. When you see us out on calls, we’re wearing our turnout gear and focused on the job. But behind every helmet is a neighbor, friend, parent, and volunteer who’s proud to serve. Throughout the month, we’ll be introducing you to the members of the Fairview Fire Department. You’ll get to learn what inspired them to serve, what they do when they’re off duty, their favorite local spots, and a few things you might be surprised by.

We hope this series gives you a chance to get to know the people behind the gear, hear their stories, and see the familiar faces who are always ready to serve our community. We’re excited for you to meet our crew—one helmet at a time. ❤️🚒
