From our Prosper Police Department family to yours, we hope you have a safe Labor Day. This is a friendly reminder to think twice before getting behind the wheel after drinking. Call a sober friend or rideshare to get home safely.

09/04/2026

Labor Day weekend is almost here. However you plan to celebrate, make sure getting home safely is part of the plan.

Impaired driving can have deadly consequences, whether the impairment comes from alcohol, cannabis, prescription medications or other substances that affect your ability to drive safely.

Plan ahead. Designate a sober driver, call a rideshare or stay where you are. Help keep Prosper and Texas roads safe this Labor Day weekend.

Drive sober. Drive safe.

Prosper PD has been receiving concerns about traffic and bicycle safety around local schools. Our Patrol and Traffic Divisions are aware and will be giving these areas additional attention!

As a reminder, please help keep our school zones safe:
• Follow the posted 20 mph school-zone speed limit and stay alert.
• Watch for students walking, biking or riding e-bikes and scooters.
• Cyclists and e-bike riders should follow the rules of the road and ride responsibly.
• Bicycle riders under 16 must wear a helmet.
• E-bikes operating in Prosper require a Prosper PD permit sticker. Learn more at prospertx.gov/ebikes
• Use designated crossings and use extra caution around intersections.

Whether you're driving, walking or riding, a little extra patience and awareness can go a long way in keeping everyone safe!
