The Reality of Wolf-Dog Ownership in Connecticut 🐺
Wolf-dog hybrids are illegal in Connecticut under General Statutes § 26-55—and for good reason. While they may look beautiful, the reality is often complex and heartbreaking.
Recently, Prospect Animal Control took in two dumped wolf-dog puppies, highlighting a serious and growing issue.
Wolf-dogs are not typical pets. Their instincts are much closer to wild animals, making them extremely difficult to safely contain, socialize, and care for in a home.

🚫 The Problem: Abandonment! When owners realize they can’t handle them, wolf-dogs are often dumped. They cannot survive in the wild, and fear can lead to unpredictable behavior—putting them at risk of suffering, injury, or worse.

🚨 The Impact: These puppies require specialized care, secure containment, and significant resources—placing a strain on animal control and limiting response to other emergencies. Safe placement is extremely difficult to find.

āš ļø The Hard Truth..If no placement is available, euthanasia may become the only option.

šŸ™ A Huge Thank You!! We want to extend our sincere gratitude to Desmond’s Army Animal Law Advocates for not only donating a test kit, but for their continued support in providing anything needed for these puppies throughout this process.
Thank you to Woodbury Animal Control, and especially Officer Gargonia, Officer Tooth, and Officer Eckman, for all the time, dedication, and hard work put into caring for these two puppies when Officer Kryzanowski could not be there. Your commitment has made a meaningful difference in their lives.

Thank you to DEEP and EnCon Officers for your assistance.

A very special thank you to Hollowing Woods Farm for taking in the two puppies and giving them a safe place. Please take a moment to follow and support them—not just for these boys, but for all the wolves and wolf-dogs they work tirelessly to care for.

A huge thank you as well to Adam from North East Wolf Refuge for your expertise, support, and dedication to helping these animals.

🐾 What You Can Do..Do not own or purchase a wolf-dog in Connecticut..Report illegal ownership..Support rescues and animal control.. Help spread awareness!!
These puppies didn’t choose this—but we can choose to do better.

Thank you again to everyone who helped save these beautiful boysšŸ’™šŸ’™

ALERT....ALERT.....ALERT....
The Prospect Police Department was alerted to reports of various mailbox content thefts from overnight. Many of these crimes are committed by thieves who approach a mailbox by vehicle, steal the contents, and then quickly drive away. The Prospect Police Department would like to remind the public of an increase in these types of crimes which have recently become an increasing problem in many areas of Prospect, and are also occurring in many areas throughout the state.
Mail is being stolen from residential mailboxes, and also from United States Postal Service (USPS) collection boxes that are located in various residential and business areas. Thieves look for residential mailbox that have their outgoing mail flags in the upright position, alerting mail to be collected, and then thieves steal the contents from within. Thieves are also targeting USPS collection boxes, by gaining access into these bigger mailboxes to steal larger amounts of mail in a shorter amount of time. Thieves will then sort through the stolen mail to recover checks and other valuables. When checks are stolen, thieves will alter and fraudulently cash the stolen checks. Thieves may even use information from the stolen checks to gain access into the victim’s bank account.
Below are a few tips to ensure that your mail arrives safely at its destination, and to help protect yourself from falling victim to mail theft and fraud:
Promptly pickup mail - Try not to leave letters and packages in your mailbox or at your door for any length of time.
Deposit mail close to pick-up time - Deposit your outgoing mail into USPS mail collection boxes before the last collection or inside of your local Post Office.
Inquire about overdue mail - If you do not receive a check, credit card, or other valuable mail that you are expecting, contact the sender as soon as possible and inquire about it.
Do not send cash - Be careful about what you send. Do not risk sending cash in the mail.
Arrange for prompt pickup - If you cannot be home to receive a package, make other arrangements to obtain your items.
Request a signature confirmation - When mailing something important/valuable, consider requesting a signature in order to confirm receipt by the intended party.
Always remember, if you observe suspicious activity in your neighborhood or around mail collection boxes DO NOT confront of follow the suspects, stay out of harm’s way, be a good witness and call the police right away. To contact the Prospect Police Department please call 203-758-6150, or dial 911 for all emergencies. To contact the United States Postal Inspection Service please call 877-876-2455.
