🚰 Update on PVWC Water Main Repairs
August 20, 2025

✅ The 24-inch pipeline at Great Falls is now back in service, following the successful restoration of the 30-inch main on Sunday. With both pipelines online, water pressure is returning to normal across Paterson, Prospect Park, Haledon, and North Haledon.

🔄 System Flushing
PVWC will now begin flushing over 2,000 hydrants in Paterson and Prospect Park to move fresh water through the system and ensure water quality meets all standards. This process is required before the Boil Water Advisory can be lifted and, weather permitting, may take up to 12 days to complete.

🚱 Boil Water Advisory
Lifted for nearly 77,000 Paterson customers (south of Broadway, east of Spruce St, and west of Rt. 20).

Still in effect for other parts of Paterson and Prospect Park, plus North Haledon and Haledon (Manchester Utilities Authority customers).

👉 If you’re still under the advisory, continue to boil water for at least 1 minute (or use bottled water) until notified it’s safe.

👮 Safety Reminder: PVWC testing crews wear uniforms and photo ID badges. Do not let anyone into your home without proper credentials. Report suspicious activity to your local police.

💧 Water Conservation Tips
• Limit outdoor water use
• Fix leaks immediately
• Shorten showers & turn off water while brushing teeth
• Run dishwashers/washers only when full
• Report unauthorized hydrant use: 973-340-4300 (option #2)

🚨 Update on PVWC Water Main Break Repairs
📅 Monday, August 18, 2025

The 30-inch water main that had been out of service since August 8 was successfully placed back into service at approximately 8:00 p.m. last night. Operating pressures began to rise almost immediately, and portions of Paterson and Prospect Park are now returning to normal system pressures.

Earlier in the day, the Manchester Utilities Authority confirmed that Haledon and North Haledon are also returning to normal pressures.

🔧 Today, our crews are working to connect the 24-inch pipeline at Great Falls. Once completed, the distribution system will return to normal operating conditions, supported by approximately 600 feet of newly installed 24-inch and 30-inch pipe segments and valves—replacing 140-year-old infrastructure.

💧 Once the system is fully stabilized, PVWC will begin comprehensive flushing of the distribution system to help lift the boil water advisory for impacted areas.

We will continue to share updates until full service and potable water quality are restored. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this critical repair effort.
