A few days ago, we received a report of a strong armed robbery that occurred during an in-person meet up for a Facebook Marketplace transaction at the McDonald's

The photo provided to us by the victim of the offender led us to identify Hamir Ward of Upper Darby as the suspect. This identification would not have been possible without the assistance of one of our former officers who is now with another agency

A warrant was approved and Ward was taken into custody this afternoon on a traffic stop in Montgomery County for robbery and related offenses

A reminder to keep the comments respectful. Everyone is entitled to due process and the presumption of innocence until a final verdict is reached

Also, please use caution when dealing with Facebook Marketplace transactions. We have a designated meeting spot at the police station available for all to use to avoid potential situations like this

I like to think Prospect Park & DELCO has plenty to offer, but it seems Robert McCool decided to take an unscheduled road trip north to New York

While I can appreciate his taste for what upstate New York has to offer, he still has an outstanding criminal warrant with our department for indecent assault, corruption of minors and harassment

Robert, if you happen to see this post, it's time to turn yourself in. This won't just go away, the PPPD won't stop looking for you and assisting agencies won't stop looking for you either

Just a reminder folks..every individual accused of a crime remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law

Yesterday, my oldest told us there was some police activity outside of his dorm building at 34th/Lancaster. I checked the news feeds and didn’t see anything. A short time later, he learned a student took their own life by jumping from the building. He didn’t know the student, but I imagine he and many others on college campuses (and high school campuses) face some of the same struggles this student did

Teenagers and young adults are trying to adjust to new schedules, making new friends, trying to keep a social life, they’re trying to be the best son/daughter/boyfriend/girlfriend they can and on top of it, they’re trying to meet the demanding expectations of a university and society

When you hear something like that as a parent, you can’t help to think “Am I doing enough for my kids?” The pressure put on teenagers and young adults is absolutely staggering. We all remember growing up and trying to navigate life…hell some of us are still trying to figure it out. I don’t remember the teenage/young adult pressures in the 80’s & 90’s like I’m seeing today in both my personal & professional life

I’m sure the pressures were there in some aspect, but I feel most of us were able to figure things out without having the internet to get answers from. We didn’t have social media to seek validation and/or redemption from and the influencers in our lives were our own neighbors and family members

Our kids talk to us and share things with us, but it doesn’t mean we worry less about them. Collectively, all of us as parents will worry about our kids until our last breath. Keep talking to your kids, but most importantly make sure you listen to them

If you have been affected by someone taking their own life as we have, please don’t misconstrue my words & actions as if you didn’t do enough or this is me saying “this is how it should have been done” type of thing. Words come to me, thoughts come to me and sometimes I share it with people and this is one of those times

I worry about my kids, I worry about your kids and sometimes I worry about some of you too. If you or someone you love is struggling to get on, please reach out to someone, anyone. If you need some resources, I can point you in the right direction for services and assistance too

This afternoon, I was honored to step on the mats to teach some jiu-jitsu based self-defense techniques to the incredible team at Laurel House in Montgomery County

A big thanks to Sergeant Matt DeSanctis from Haverford Township Police Department for joining me to help instruct

For those unfamiliar, Laurel House is a lifeline in Montco providing safe shelter, 24/7 crisis support, legal advocacy and counseling for survivors of domestic abuse

It was truly a privilege to share practical safety tools with a staff that gives so much of themselves to protect others in so many ways

A special thank you to Jenn Capone for organizing this training and making it possible !

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of joining Officer Denton at Interboro High School to assist with their mock crime scene project

Despite what my expression in this photo might suggest, I promise I was thrilled to be there and not cringing over anything Officer Denton was saying 😂

It was fantastic watching the students apply critical thinking to solve the crime and seeing their interest in the investigation side of things

A huge thank you to Officer Denton for inviting me to be a part of it
