Today, the Prospect Heights community came together to commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, and to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the heroic first responders who answered the call, and all those whose lives were forever changed by that tragic day.

The Prospect Heights Police Department was proud to stand alongside members of the Prospect Heights Fire Protection District, City officials and staff, School District 23, students, and community members for this meaningful ceremony.

We sincerely appreciate everyone who organized, supported, and participated in today's memorial. A special thank you to the members of our Fire District, Police Department, and School District 23 who participated and helped make today's ceremony a meaningful tribute for our community and the next generation.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember those we lost, honor those who served, and stand together as a community.

Our Field Training Officers are more than just teachers. They’re the example new officers see every day: how to handle calls, treat people, make decisions, carry themselves professionally, and represent our department and our community.

Breaking Down Language Barriers with Axon Assistant
The Prospect Heights Police Department has activated Axon Assistant on our officers’ body-worn cameras, providing real-time translation support in 56 languages.
This technology will help officers and community members who speak different languages communicate more effectively during their interactions—helping improve understanding, reduce language barriers, and provide better service to everyone in our diverse community.

Old Sign to Check Out at the Police Department
The Blue Star Memorial located at the Prospect Heights Police Department has received a much-needed refurbishment, restoring this important tribute and helping preserve it for years to come. The Blue Star Memorial honors the men and women of the Armed Forces who have defended the United States of America. We are proud to help maintain this meaningful landmark and ensure it continues to stand as a visible reminder of our community’s gratitude and respect for those who have served.
