The Scott County Sheriff's Office is alerting the public about a phone scam where a person impersonates a Sheriff's Sergeant regarding a "civil issue." The Sheriff’s Office will not contact you by phone to demand payment, request personal information, or threaten legal action. More info ⬇️

SCAM ALERT: Impersonation of Law Enforcement

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office has received reports today of scam phone calls involving individuals impersonating a Sheriff’s Sergeant.

In these calls, the scammer instructs the recipient to return their call regarding a “civil issue.” These calls are fraudulent.

Residents are reminded:
🚫 The Sheriff’s Office will not contact you by phone to demand payment, request personal information, or threaten legal action.
🚫 Law enforcement will never call you and demand payment to resolve a warrant or missed jury duty.
Scammers often “spoof” phone numbers to make it appear as though the call is coming from a legitimate agency.
🚫 Do not return calls to unknown numbers or provide any personal or financial information.

If you receive a call like this:
✔ Do not engage with the caller
✔ Hang up immediately
✔ Report the incident to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office

If you believe you have been a victim of a scam, please contact us right away.

Let's keep our kids safe. Minnesota law changed this year and requires drivers to stop at least 20 feet away from a school bus whenever the red lights are flashing. The stop arm does not need to be fully extended.
