A SIMPLE THANK YOU SEEMS SO INADEQUATE!!
This year, with the help of many generous and hard-working friends, the Prineville Senior Center Charitable Trust, owner of the Neat Repeat Thrift store, was blessed with a new floor in the 14,000 Sq. Ft. Neat Repeat building.
The Neat Repeat is housed in the Morse Building built in 1948 by William Morse. It began on December 1, 1973, in an abandoned service station at the corner of Third and Belknap. Due to the need for more space, it was moved into the old bowling alley on the corner of East Second and Belknap Streets. After leasing the bowling alley for 10 years, the Soroptimists purchased all but the SW corner of the block it occupied, which included the Morse Building. The Neat Repeat moved into the Morse Building and the bowling alley is now the Prineville Senior Center. Both are owned and operated by the Prineville Senior Center Charitable Trust, an independent 501(c)3 non-profit. We provide activities and meals for our community seniors. The Prineville Center Foundation, also an independent 501(c)3 non-profit, provides board oversight for the Prineville Senior Center Charitable Trust. The Prineville Senior Center is a meal site operating in partnership with the Council on Aging. We provide freshly cooked, hot meals 5 days a week, Monday-Friday. Annually, we provide approximately 29,000 congregate and home-delivered meals. 100% of the Neat Repeat sales go to support the operation of the senior center. We receive some additional federal funds for the meals program and the rest of our funding and support comes from grants, fund-raisers, and community donations, both monetary and in-kind.
This new floor gives new life to the Neat Repeat and in turn to the Prineville Senior Center. We can continue to rely on Neat Repeat to help us keep the senior center doors open, providing meals and senior services for many more years and we want to recognize everyone who made this possible. Seth Crawford, County Commissioner, reached out to the Crook County High School CTE Administrator, Ryan Cochran, to see if they would be interested in the project as a learning experience for the students. The flooring and materials for the project were purchased with funds from a Meta grant given to the Crook County High School CTE program. Ron Berg was the on-site CTE Instructor and job foreman, and we want to thank all the students who put in the labor. Other contractors and suppliers who generously gave their time to help with and provide materials for the project include:
Paulson's / Baptista Tile and Design: Marvin WodTli
Premier Plumbing: Steve Ware
Third St. Floor Covering: Anla Killingsworth
Ranch Country Outhouses
We also want to recognize the patience and hard work of our Neat Repeat Staff, with special recognition for our Manager, Peg McCutcheon, and Assistant Manager, Ruby Rictor. Since we stayed open during the project, the merchandise was moved many times to open space to install the flooring. The staff, with the help of the CTE students, made it happen, and we are eternally grateful.
Finally, we want to say thank you to our customers. The disruption made your shopping trips more challenging, but you kept coming in. THANK YOU!!!
No, a simple THANK YOU does not seem adequate so please consider this 29,000+ THANK YOU’s for every additional year of service this project will enable the Prineville Senior Center to continue to operate in our community.
