First day of Fire Academy Picture!

Best of luck to our 3 probationary firefighter, Allysen Jacobsen, Brett Klinefelter and Clayton Wellenreiter! Today is day 1 of a long and grueling 7 week State Fire Academy in Champaign. They will be in live fire almost every single day and receiving invaluable training.

The Princeton Fire Department would like to recognize the actions of three individuals.

An emergency incident at Ace Distribution center took place on June 11, 2026. The Princeton Fire Department was dispatched for a male patient that was choking at the named location in the cafeteria. The Princeton Fire on duty crew was currently responding to a motor vehicle accident on the interstate, so off duty personnel backfilled the station from home to cover this incident. Upon ambulance arrival, the patient was standing outside the business with other bystanders and the patient stated while eating, he underwent a complete airway blockage not being able to move any air into his lungs. Co-workers stated the actions of Tammy Prusak, Idalia Duran, and Paul Dhesse performing the Heimlich Maneuver dislodged the food from the patient’s upper airway allowing the patient to breathe again. With the extended response time during this emergency incident, the actions of these three individuals saved this patient’s life. Because of this, these three individuals were each presented with the Community Emergency Response Commendation. Congratulations!
