Around 8:45 this morning (6/11/26) our office responded to a stolen vehicle complaint at O’Reilly’s on Courthouse Road. Within minutes, Athens PD Chief C.T. Lowe observed the vehicle on U.S. Route 460 and followed it into Bluefield until our Deputies could close in. The suspect was arrested by our office without any further incident at the Cumberland Road intersection. We were able to return the vehicle to its owner. We’d like to thank the help of Mercer County 911, Athens PD, and Bluefield PD with this call. Deputy W.C. Morrow is the lead investigating Deputy on this complaint.

"Someone arrest those kids—they're drunk!"

Just kidding!

We recently had the opportunity to present several programs at Maranatha Christian Academy on the effects of drugs and alcohol, with a particular focus on impaired driving and its impact on individuals and communities.

This shared post highlights some of the more entertaining moments from the presentation while still reinforcing an important message. We hope you enjoy the videos as much as we did! Link below.

Thank you - Maranatha Christian Academy for inviting us and allowing us to engage with your students on this important topic.

We are so excited to be able to assist in furthering the education of these students. As a department with relish the opportunity to be able to work with the Mercer County Technical Education Center and the Mercer County Public School System any time we can.

FREEZE!!!🚓🚔 The school year isn't over just yet!!

Today, the Mercer County Sheriff's Department WV graciously donated this 2007 Ford F150 to our program!

We are exceedingly grateful for this donation and ecstatic to add this vehicle to our fleet.
Automotive students practice their hands-on skills on our cars before they ever work on YOUR cars.

Thank you again!!!
