It's that time of year! Black Patch Festival is coming in hot (literally) this Saturday. The sheriff's office will be there passing out goodies and information, as well as selling raffle tickets for the Polaris Ranger AND... *drumroll* chances on a R***r 300 Blackout.

You must be 18 to purchase tickets for the gun raffle, and all FFL regulations apply. The winning ticket will be drawn Saturday.

The Polaris Ranger - will be drawn in December, at the sheriff's conference, and you will be notified by phone. You can accept the ranger or the cash value. All proceeds for both raffles go to the Sheriffs' Boys and Girls Ranch.

Come by and see us and support a great cause - the KY Sheriffs' Boys & Girls Ranch!!

Sheriff Don Weedman reports:

On September 8, 2026 at approximately 10:32 P.M. , Paducah Louisville Railway called Pennyrile Central Dispatch to notify law enforcement of a collision involving one of their trains. As the eastbound train approached the intersection of Jones Keeney Road at Claxton, the engineer observed an obstruction on the tracks and attempted to stop. The train collided with a trailer loaded with scrap metal that had been abandoned on the tracks (evidence left). P&L officials responded to the scene and worked with our deputies to clear the tracks and roadway for safe passage. Thankfully, no injuries were reported by the train staff or anyone else. The criminal investigation pertaining to the abandoned trailer left on the tracks is being conducted by Deputy Anthony Brown, CCSO (270) 963-0009.

If anyone has information pertaining to this crime, PLEASE contact the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office at (270)365-2088 or Chief Deputy Stacey Blackburn at (270) 963-0911.

P&L is conducting an investigation as well and their number is (270) 444-4308.

YOUR INFORMATION IS APPRECIATED AND HELD CONFIDENTIAL.
