Help us congratulate today’s 2026 scholar, Nolan Kloepping!

Nolan currently attends the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR, studying Ag Business with focus in Prelaw. Nolan was involved in FFA and 4-H which helped him decide to further his studies in agriculture. In addition, he has always had an interest in law, so when choosing a college, finding a program that combines law and agriculture was a top priority. In the future, he plans to attend law school with goals of becoming a lawyer for an agricultural company, specifically a legal defender.

The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote on allowing year-round E15 sales nationwide this week, likely Wednesday (5/13). Illinois Farm Bureau is supportive of this bipartisan measure and encourages a YES vote from the Illinois delegation.

Help us congratulate today’s 2026 scholar, Ryan Jagers!

Ryan is a senior graduating from Princeton High School this spring. He plans to attend Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby, IL, in the fall studying Ag Business and Farm Management, with plans to transfer to the University of Illinois in the future. Ryan chose this field of study because he has always found interest in agricultural technology and machinery. He grew up learning about what it takes to operate a farm from his grandpa and has continued learning from his uncle on their family operation. This summer he will intern as a drone operator to expand his knowledge in agricultural technology. In the future, he plans to implement his studies while working alongside his uncle with interest in taking over the family operation one day.

Help us congratulate today’s 2026 scholar, Lydia Hardy!

Lydia is a senior graduating from Princeton High School this spring. She plans to attend the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, IL next fall to study Animal Science with a minor in Business. She has chosen this area of study because of her involvement in 4-H, Bureau County Farm Bureau, and FFA. She has had the opportunity to shadow some veterinarians that have helped her decision to study animal science with a focus on veterinary medicine. In the future, her goal is to obtain a degree in veterinary medicine and utilize her practice as a rural veterinarian specializing in production animals within the Illinois Valley area.

Help us congratulate today’s 2026 scholar, Ryan Carlson!

Ryan is currently attending Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby, IL, where he is studying classes in Ag Business and Finance with plans to transfer to a university in the future. Ryan grew up on a family farm which showed him that long-term success in agriculture depends not only on production, but also on sound business decisions. He believes that studying ag business and finance will prepare him to understand the markets, risk management, and farm profitability, while also expanding his focus in agronomy to help grow and sustain his own farm operation.

Thank you to the more than 1,300 Illinois Farm Bureau members who answered the call to action and made their voices heard.

We also thank members of the Illinois Congressional delegation, Rep. Mike Bost, Rep. Darin LaHood, Congresswoman Mary Miller, for listening to farmers and supporting passage of the Farm Bill in the U.S. House, along with the House Ag GOP Committee and Chairman G.T. Thompson for their leadership.

Help us congratulate today’s 2026 scholar, Toby Behrends!

Toby is currently attending Black Hawk College – East Campus in Kewanee, IL, but plans to transfer to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK, this spring to continue her studies in Animal Science. Toby grew up surrounded by mentors in the cattle industry and involved in 4-H and FFA which helped shape her academic and career goals toward agriculture. Along with her academic studies at BHE, she aims to expand her industry knowledge in livestock judging while preparing to build a lifelong career in the beef industry, with a focus on cattle research and management.

Help us congratulate this week’s 2026 scholar, Troy Anderson!

Troy is currently attending Iowa State University in Ames, IA, majoring in Agricultural Engineering. Troy chose this area of study because of his ag background and the ability to make an impact. He grew up on a family farm and wants to take advantage of the opportunity to leave the world better than he found it. In the future, his goal is to design machinery that is more sustainable and economically efficient while continuing to grow his own family’s farm operation. His end life goal is to have a career in ag engineering, but a life in farming.

⭐Scholar Spotlight Series⭐

Ten Bureau County students have been selected to receive scholarships from the Bureau County Farm Bureau Foundation for the 2026-2027 school year.

Our 2026 BCFB Foundation scholarship recipients are not only dedicated students, but they’re also leaders in FFA, 4-H, church, school, and community activities. We are proud to honor their achievements and wish them every success in their future endeavors.

Again this year, $15,000 in scholarships will be awarded thanks to the generosity of our donors and fundraising supporters. Your continued support and contributions pour directly back into the future of our industry year after year.

Over the next few weeks, you will see each selected student highlighted through individual ‘Scholar Spotlight’ posts made on Wednesdays and Fridays. Stay tuned!

Thank you, Jill Frueh, for your leadership and dedication the last 23 years as Manager of the Bureau County Farm Bureau. We wish you all the best as you begin your much deserved new role in IL Farm Bureau as our Region 1 Manager.
We also welcome our new Manager- Brittany Slightom-and look forward to working alongside her to continue educating and promoting agriculture in our community, as well as supporting our members and organization on the local and state-wide levels.
