The Princeton Board of Selectmen have received several complaints about the condition of properties in Princeton. The Princeton Board of Selectmen ask all residents of Princeton to help keep Princeton beautiful by cleaning up their yards. Princeton has always been a town that does not like to have ordinances and rules placed on how to use their properties, but unfortunately, this has led to issues with unsafe/unclean yards. Due to the number of complaints, the Board has started looking at needing to institute a property maintenance ordinance. The transfer station is open every Sunday from 8 am to 4 pm. Princeton residents can drop off four tires, not on the rims, per family per day at no extra charge. There is a metal pile and a place for appliances and furniture. This is at no added charge. Household garbage is picked up every Tuesday. Computers and TVs can be dropped off at the Princeton Town Office on Thursdays at no charge. There is now a redemption center open in Princeton for cans and bottles. State law requires any property with 3 or more unregistered vehicles to apply for a junkyard permit which will require fencing. This is not just an issue with how a property looks, but also one of safety and possible fire hazards. Rodents and unwanted wild animals gravitate to areas where garbage is stored. Princeton Parks and Rec will be cleaning up the sides of the roads in Princeton on May 2, 2026. The Selectmen encourage residents to join Parks and Rec in helping to make Princeton beautiful again by working with Parks and Rec or cleaning their own yards. If we work together as a community to be good stewards of our town, we can avoid having to institute ordinances.
