International: “The End of an Era: The Return of the Taliban and The Fall of Afghanistan” by Drew Hopkins ‘24.

20 years after the U.S. invaded Afghanistan to fight the “war on terror” following 9/11, the Taliban regime that the U.S. toppled in 2001 is now back in power. Frenzied scenes of Afghans trying to escape their new government and evacuate the country have left the world in shock. As Hopkins writes, whether the Taliban will continue its history of extremism remains to be seen, but it is certain that “Afghanistan is in the throes of a historic and dangerous transformation.”
