Another day, another flyout. Crews utilized MSP Aviation Trooper 6 to airlift a patient with burn injuries on Monday evening, 2/2/26. Trooper 4 crew came by ground to provide assistance as their helicopter was out of service for routine maintenance while volunteer members from Princess Anne VFC secured the landing site for crews to safely transfer care for flight. We are grateful to have these working relationships and access to top of the line hospitals in our region.

Earlier today, crews responded and provided treatment for an individual suffering from a traumatic injury. Early activation for aviation was requested and utilized to transport the patient to definitive care. Volunteer members from the Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Company established and secured a landing zone on route 13 for Maryland State Police Aviation Trooper 4 to land. Care was transferred over and crews cleared the scene shortly after. We are grateful for the assistance and collaboration from both organizations to ensure the individual was transported to the appropriate facility.

Happy New Year!

We hope everyone has experienced a safe and joyous holiday season thus far. We are excited to provide everyone with following update:

As we approached the end of 2025, we have had numerous people working diligently often going above and beyond to secure a temporary quarters for our EMS crews. This all culminated yesterday with the end of our lease agreement with Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Company. Through the tirelessly efforts of our EMS crews over the past 2 days, as well as the countless days from our Administrative staff, we are proud to announce that we have had a successful and relatively smooth transition.

As we move forward into 2026, we want to let everyone know that we have only moved about a quarter of a mile down the road. Our EMS Department will continue providing uninterrupted coverage to the citizens, visitors, and commuters of Somerset County.

"With growth, comes change". However, we remain steadfast in our mission and look forward to continuing to serve the public.

We had a spooky time at the Trunk or Treat hosted by the Somerset County Health Department. As the ghosts and goblins came around to fill their bags with treats, we took the opportunity to train them, as well as their siblings and parents, in Hands Only CPR.

Making public access AEDs and Hands Only CPR training available for residents and visitors is just the beginning of the next of many initiatives our department will be providing to build upon and improve the public safety within Somerset County.
