CRIME REPORT: Grand Theft Hydration

Crime: Theft of All Usable Oxygen
Suspect: The Sun
Status: At large and refusing to comply.

We currently have patrol units searching the archives for the absolute coldest snow patrol photo we can find, hoping that looking at it will magically lower our body temperatures. (Spoilers: It’s not working).

While we negotiate a ceasefire with the humidity, please adhere to the following emergency protocols:

The Asphalt Test: Put the back of your hand on the pavement. If it hurts, do not walk your dog on it. Unless you plan on carrying your 80-pound lab everywhere, keep them on the grass.

Look Before You Lock: A locked car in this heat is essentially a greenhouse. Check the backseat every single time you park.

The "Am I Dehydrated?" Test: If you're thirsty, you're already behind. Chug some water.

If anyone has a connection to a commercial snow machine, please contact our dispatch. Otherwise, go give your AC unit a high five, thank it for its service, and stay cool inside! We’ll be out here melting if you need us.

Lock It or Lose It: A Quick Reminder for the Baxter Area!

We love the Baxter Ridge neighborhood and, unfortunately, so do some uninvited, late-night "window shoppers."

Recently, we’ve seen a rise in thefts from vehicles in the Baxter area. These opportunistic thieves aren’t smashing windows; they are simply walking up, pulling door handles, and taking whatever valuables are left inside. Let’s work together to make our neighborhood a completely unprofitable zone for them!

The "9 PM Routine"

Before you head to bed tonight, take a quick minute to protect your property:

Clear It Out: Remove wallets, bags, electronics, and keys from your vehicle.

Lock It Up: Double-check that your car doors are locked and windows are rolled up. Most thefts happen to unlocked cars!

Light It Up: Keep your porch or driveway lights on. Thieves hate the spotlight.

If you see any suspicious activity or unrecognized vehicles cruising the neighborhood overnight, please call dispatch right away.

Let's keep Baxter safe. Remember to lock up tonight!

Prince George County Police Department Investigating Fatal Crash

The Prince George Police Department is currently investigating a fatal two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred this afternoon at the intersection of US Route 460 (County Drive) and Route 156 (Prince George Drive).

At approximately 2:06 PM, Prince George Police officers and emergency personnel responded to a collision involving a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer. A preliminary investigation indicates that the passenger vehicle was at fault in the incident. The driver and sole occupant of the passenger vehicle sustained critical, life-threatening injuries. Prince George Fire and EMS transported them to Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, but unfortunately, they succumbed to their injuries.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time, as police personnel are working to notify the next of kin. The operator of the tractor-trailer sustained non-lifethreatening injuries and was also transported to the hospital.

The intersection of Route 460 and Route 156 is heavily impacted, with partial lane closures as the PGPD Crash Reconstruction Team processes the scene. Motorists are strongly encouraged to seek alternative routes to avoid delays. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.

Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Prince George Police Department at (804) 733-2770.

Well, Mother Nature woke up last night and decided a casual summer shower wasn't enough she went full-blown dramatic monsoon on us. She clearly took the phrase "it's time for a cooldown" very personally. We appreciate the break from roasting alive, Ma’am, but the theatrics were a bit much.

Let's just collectively manifest that she gets all this chaotic energy out of her system before August. Because guess what’s officially around the corner?

Yep, our annual National Night Out is locked in for Tuesday, August 4th!

The countdown is officially on for our favorite night of the year. We are formally requesting clear skies, zero downpours, and maximum community vibes. We’re already hard at work behind the scenes putting it all together, so lock the date into your calendars.
More details are coming your way soon.

Stay tuned! (And maybe start manifesting those clear skies now, just in case).
