We are proud to recognize and celebrate *xualityVisibilityMonth this month. If you did not know, the 'B' in LGBTQIA+ stands for bis*xuality, and the term bis*xual is used to describe a personally varying degree of romantic or s*xual attraction to people of more than one gender or s*x.

Bis*xual pride is represented in their pink, purple, and blue flag. The pink in the flag represents attraction to people of the same gender. The blue represents attraction to people of a different gender. And, the purple in between represents a blend of the two–attraction to more than one gender. Historically, people who have identified as bis*xual have faced discrimination from many members of both the straight and LGBTQ+ community. This phenomenon is known as biphobia and can be quite devasting to process when realized that so many conversations of liberation and progress do not always include you in the picture because of who you love or are attracted to. Because of this, Bis*xuality Visibility Month is so important to further encourage inclusion and equity in all communities and reduce the stigmas around the s*xual orientation.

It is our hope that any of you who may identify as bis*xual or may be questioning, are safe to be loved and loving out loud and proud of who you are!🩷💜💙

Today, we’re proud to recognize *xualityDay!

As*xual, also referred to as “ace”, is a s*xual orientation where individuals may experience little to no s*xual attraction or desire. These individuals may still experience romantic attraction and partake in s*x, in various forms.

In Prince George’s County, we celebrate residents of all s*xual orientations and gender expressions! Our office is working hard to not only hold space for you, but create space for you and celebrate all that you are.

This past weekend, our PGC LGBTQIA + Affairs, Antonio Driver, had the honor of attending the 2nd Annual Gala for Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV), hosted by Heart To Hand, Inc. This event not only celebrated and the power of the transgender community, but also highlighted the journey and incredible work being done in healthcare and housing advocacy for our transgender residents. The evening was filled with triumphant stories, shared experiences, and the collective acknowledament of the challenges faced b transgender individuals. In a world where the need for equity, inclusivity, and understanding is ever-pressing, the gala served as a beacon of hope and a demonstration of progress. We continue to make strides in ensuring that every individual, regardless of their gender identity, feels valued, supported, and seen.
