West Pend Oreille Fire District West Pend Oreille Fire District is a volunteer department started in 1980

The appearance of major growth in Bonner County during the 20th century resulted in the formation of West Pend Oreille Fire District in 1982. Prior to the establishment of the West Pend Oreille Fire District, firefighting was primarily done under the auspices of the US Forest Service and the CCC. The department is a volunteer organization which is primarily funded through taxes, grants, and fundra

isers. Our district covers square miles and serves a population of approximately 6,000 citizens. We respond to all fires in our district, all extrication calls, and mutual aid calls to other departments on our borders.
