Building a Better Future for Our Community
As we stand at the crossroads of transformation, I want to address some concerns surrounding the proposed sports plex to replace Prichard Stadium and the renovation of Pollard Park. These changes are not just about infrastructure; they’re about creating vibrant, welcoming spaces where our community can thrive.
We’re committed to improving existing facilities, making them more accessible and attractive, and integrating AI technology for a modern experience. Our goal is not to dwell on negativity but to focus on what our city truly deserves: venues where our citizens can gather and find joy, just like in any other thriving community.
Empowering Our Youth
It's crucial that we provide our young people with opportunities to engage in sports. These experiences aren't just about games; they’re about building character, enhancing knowledge, instilling confidence, and fostering respect and responsibility. We cannot let outdated thinking hold back our community—especially when it comes to our future generations.
The Challenges We Face
I want to clarify a few important points regarding grant funding. Grants come with specific guidelines and matching requirements that dictate their use, particularly for infrastructure projects. It's misunderstood that these funds can be reallocated, but that’s simply not how they work. Also, I want to highlight that the Prichard Water and Sewer Board operates independently, and as your mayor, I can only advocate for improvements within that system.
With all that said, I ask you: do you want progress or just promises? My administration has been dedicated to tangible advancements. We have paved more roads than ever, fully staffed all four fire stations, and upgraded crucial municipal facilities, including City Hall and the public works department. We've also identified and addressed blighted properties that have lingered for too long.
Looking Ahead
We're making strides in hiring personnel to bolster our city’s operations. Yes, law enforcement recruitment has its hurdles, but we’re not alone in this struggle—many cities face similar challenges.
I’m thrilled to announce the opening of the Frito distribution center in our industrial park and a new truck stop on Telegraph Road. Exciting business opportunities are on the horizon, with more developments like 100+ new homes coming to Lott Road and University.
Together, let's embrace progress, one step at a time. When we unite as a community, there’s no limit to what we can achieve. Thank you for your support as we continue building a brighter future for all. As I’ve shared the best man for the job is already on the job. Let’s continue the progress!
