โ€‹Yard work and trimming trees are part of keeping your property looking great, but how you dispose of that brush matters!

โ€‹๐Ÿ›‘ ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐–๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐  ๐–๐š๐ฒ: Leaving loose brush piles or illegally dumping debris along roadsides and banks is against the law and creates hazards. Regular daily trash trucks cannot haul away loose brush or bulk yard waste.

โ€‹โœ… ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐‘๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐–๐š๐ฒ: For curbside collection, make sure all brush is cut in 4-foot lengths, tied in 18-inch diameter bundles, and no bundle shall weigh more than 50 lbs so Rumpke can easily pick it up. You can also utilize the Floyd County Transfer Station (located at 200 Garth Hollow Rd, Martin, KY) for disposal.

Back in 2011, Floyd County Code Enforcement and the Litter Abatement program visited every elementary school across Floyd County to spread the anti-litter message! ๐ŸŽ’โœจ

Back then, a wonderful educator reminded us that teaching kids about keeping our county clean is like planting a tiny seed in their minds: with a little encouragement, it grows into lifelong pride for our home. ๐ŸŒฑThe best part was seeing how eager the kids were to help keep our community clean. (And hearing them accidentally "tell" on their parents' littering habits! ๐Ÿ˜„)

Fast Forward 15 years, and that same spirit is still going strong through our Trash for Cash program-where local school teams and youth groups earn funds for their programs by cleaning up Floyd County roadsides. ๐Ÿ†
