The Preston, Connecticut Historical Society is dedicated to preserving Preston’s rich history and rural identity while promoting and enhancing the life or our community for many generations to come. It is our belief that through awareness of Preston’s history our citizens will appreciate their town, increasing the sense of pride within our community. Our goal is to perpetuate the history of the To

wn of Preston and preserve the documents and records that tell the story of our town's history. The society sponsors historical and civic programs and events annually, further enhancing our mission. The Preston, Connecticut Historical Society support multiple local educational initiatives that continue to promote the study and documentation of history. We support projects which strive to restore, mark or preserve local historical sites or artifacts deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors.

A fun fact for Amelia Earhart Day: did you know she was married in Groton? She married George Putnam at his mother's house in Noank on February 7, 1931. The ceremony was officiated by the Groton probate judge, Arthur Anderson.
