August was busier than ever for us. We had 57 calls for service. Year to date we have had over 360 calls for service. We also had two trainings this month. Our first training consisted of going over 12 lead ECGs which are highly important for pre hospital care. We also completed training with the Preston Fire Department doing vehicle extrication.

JULY 29, 2026- ROCHESTER, MN

Strong ambulance services are built through collaboration, not competition. When ambulance directors work together, share resources, exchange ideas, and support one another, they strengthen not only their own organizations but the entire EMS system. No single service has all the answers where staffing, funding, and increasing call volumes continue to challenge providers and their services.

Breaking down "silos" creates opportunities to share best practices, training, equipment, and operational experience that ultimately improves patient care. By building relationships and working as regional partners, ambulance directors can advocate together, develop innovative solutions to common challenges, and ensure that every community benefits from a more resilient and sustainable EMS system.

Together, we accomplish far more than any one service can achieve alone; as a collective voice and collaborative region.

A special thank you to the Minnesota Ambulance Association and Andy Teska from Winona Area Ambulance Service for tonight's presentations.

JULY 20, 2026- SPRING VALLEY, MN

This weekend, the SE Region suffered the loss of a "one of a kind" colleague, Mike Zimmer, "The Wild Man."

Whether responding to the needs of his community or instructing the future of EMS, Mike exemplified selfless service, "quiet" leadership, and an unwavering commitment to helping those in their greatest moments of need. Mike's impact reached far beyond the calls he answered it lives on in the people he mentored, the crews he led, the providers he taught, and the countless lives he touched.

To his family, friends, coworkers, and Spring Valley Area Ambulance, we extend our deepest condolences and are available for ANYTHING you need.

We honor Mike's service, his sacrifice, and the legacy he leaves behind.

May we continue to carry forward the values he lived every day: courage, compassion, and dedication to others.

A Celebration of Life will be held on:

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wabasha Fire Department, all First Responders involved, the families and the communities. The EMS family is thinking of you all.

Some calls stay with you because of what happened. Some stay with you because of who was there.

Today is both.

We keep waiting for this to settle into something we can understand, and it isn’t happening. That’s how we know it’s real, the losses that make sense don’t feel like this.

We lost three people this weekend. Two of our own, and one more who never had to wear the uniform to be part of this family.

Our hearts are with the Wabasha Fire Department, and with every family, friend, neighbor, and person who loved them. This isn’t a loss that stays inside one department. In a community this size, it touches all of us.

We don’t have the right words, so we won’t pretend to. What we have instead is this: we’ll carry them into every call we answer, every time we pull into a station, and every time we think of the people who are no longer standing where they should be.

That absence doesn’t go away. It just becomes part of how we do the job.

June proved to be an active month for us, with 43 calls for service. We also had our first Summer Get Together in Lanesboro, which ended up being a great success despite the rain. Additionally, EMTs Ryan and Gabrielle expanded their skill set by completing the EMS DOT Instructor School, qualifying them to teach EMR or EMT courses. We also successfully completed CPR training sessions for several area businesses.

Thank you to all our volunteers for all they do and the communities we serve for the continued support!
