***SCAM ALERT***

A fake business calling itself "Divine Auto Sales", is operating a website and page listing cars for sale and claiming that they are in Mabel Minnesota. No such business exists in Mabel, or anywhere in Fillmore County. Fillmore County Sheriff's Office Investigators are actively investigating the fraud, and are working to have the page, and website taken down. In the meantime, please always remember:

Never send payments for goods or services through a wire transfer to someone that you do not know personally. Often times the recipient is located in a foreign country and cannot be identified. Often times it's not possible to recover the money sent.

It is never a good idea to send payment for an item without seeing that item in person. Online scammers often list items for sale that don't even exist.

***Public Notice***

Sheriff's Office and dispatch non-emergency phone lines will be down for necessary maintenance for about 1 hour beginning at 5 pm today. 911 lines will remain operational. If you try calling the Sheriff's Office usual non-emergency number and it doesn't go through, call 507-686-0578 to speak with a dispatcher. We will update this status when the normal phone lines are back up and operating.

*Training Alert*

Throughout this week, the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office is hosting an FBI instructed ALERRT Active Shooter Training at the Fillmore Central High School in Harmony Minnesota. Along with our office, agencies from throughout the area have been invited and are attending this training. This training consists of a mix of classroom and walkthrough instruction, and practical training scenarios. There will likely be a large presence of squad cars, and officers moving into and out of the school on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon as officers conduct live scenario exercises. This is an essential training to prepare officers for such an incident, and we are grateful for the partnership with Fillmore Central Schools in helping us facilitate this important training.

We enjoyed beautiful weather for National Night Out yesterday evening! Sheriff DeGeorge and Deputies joined local fire and ambulance services, as well as Minnesota State Troopers at events in Harmony, Mabel, and Ostrander. Thank you to everyone for coming out!

Minnesota HSEM is requesting a FEMA Individual Assistance preliminary damage assessment for the severe storms and flash flooding that occurred July 2nd through July 8th.

If you were impacted from the storms, for example, 2 inches or more water in your basement, sewer backups, etc. please email Fillmore County Emergency Management at:

Please include your Name, Address, Phone number and type of damage.

FEMA is looking to conduct an onsite survey of affected homes during the week of August 4th.

Also, if your SMALL BUSINESS was impacted from the storms, please report your damages.

All of the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office extends our condolences to the Zimmer family. For decades Mike stood side by side with us on some of the toughest calls our office has faced. Mike embodied public service and community commitment. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Multiple chances exist for severe thunderstorms on Monday. The first round will be Monday morning as thunderstorms travel southeast from North Dakota through Minnesota and into our area. The second round will be Monday afternoon and evening as a cold front drops south across the area and thunderstorms develop. How the morning thunderstorms evolve, will dictate who & when will receive thunderstorms in the afternoon.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...Portions of Minnesota and Iowa, including the following counties,
Allamakee, Chickasaw, Floyd, Howard, Mitchell and Winneshiek and
southeast Minnesota, including the following counties, Dodge,
Fillmore, Houston, Mower, Olmsted and Winona.
