Central Aroostook Association

Central Aroostook Association We provide people in our programs the necessary support to reach their highest level of personal development. Welcome! Richard, Executive Director

Central Aroostook Association has proudly been serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1959. This amazing association was founded by parents who believed that their sons and daughters deserved to be educated, employed, and live in their own communities. Through a dedicated Board of Directors and supportive staff, our mission has continued since its inception. The association has grown from one program and is now supporting people in eight different programs. We hope that you enjoy surfing through our website. - Stephen D.

Congratulations to Patty Dean, our August BELIEVE Award Recipient!

When Patty first began working for Central Aroostook Association 25 years ago. She was assigned as a one-on-one support staff for a young adult male. She interacted with him each day with extraordinary patience, kindness, and respect. It was clear from the beginning that she had a genuine passion for helping others and empowering them to succeed.

Patty later assumed responsibility for overseeing the sheltered workshop's sorting program at the PI Recycling Center, where she provided training, guidance, and support to a group of adult consumers throughout their workday. When the agency developed its interoffice mail program, Patty was selected to lead the training and supervision of the adult consumers responsible for collecting, weighing, stamping, sorting, and delivering the agency's daily mail. Her ability to teach, encourage, and build confidence made the program a success.

Today, Patty continues to work alongside adults participating in our Community Supports Program. She remains dedicated to helping each individual achieve as much independence as possible, always encouraging them to recognize their strengths and reach their full potential.

Patty Dean is the epitome of the BELIEVE concept. She exemplifies honesty, integrity, compassion, and unwavering dedication. Patty is an exceptional listener who treats everyone with dignity and respect. Her positive energy inspires those around her to stay engaged and motivated, and her commitment to both the agency and the individuals we serve is evident in everything she does.

Patty values her work deeply and gives 100 percent in everything she undertakes. She leads by example, consistently demonstrating the values of BELIEVE through her actions, her relationships, and her steadfast commitment to helping others live meaningful, independent lives. She is truly deserving of this recognition.

Thank you, Patty, for your dedication, leadership, and the positive impact you make every day. We are proud to recognize you as our August BELIEVE Award Winner!
