Aroostook Voices to Action (AVA) is a free, four-session series for Aroostook County residents age 18+ who want to understand how different levels of government work and build practical advocacy skills.

Attend one session or all four—you choose! No experience needed—just curiosity.

📅 Wednesdays in October | 9:30 AM–12:30 PM
📍 In-person in Presque Isle or via the Access Point in Madawaska, Fort Fairfield or Monticello
Applications for the AVA program are due by Friday, September 25th.

Are you 55 years or older? Do you live in Presque Isle, Mapleton, Castle Hill, Chapman, or Easton? Would you like FREE salt/sand delivered right to your door?

The registration deadline our Safe Steps delivery later this month is quickly approaching. If you qualify and want to sign up for a delivery under this free program, you need to do so by September 20 to be a part of our September 28 delivery.

Registrations received after September 20 will be scheduled for the December 16 delivery, which is the last one of this winter season. Registrations will close on December 9.

Monday, September 14th: Internet Safety: Learn the Basics, 8:30 am - 10:30 am, in-person in Presque Isle: This two-hour class covers the basics of protecting your personal information and devices, including creating effective passwords, recognizing secure websites, and understanding what personal information may be available about you online.

Wednesday, September 16th: Welcome Wednesday -Adult Day Services, 10:00-11:00 am, in-person in Presque Isle: chat with staff and learn more about our respite care program.

Thursday, September 17th: Brain Health and Aging: The Basics*, 3:00 - 4:00 pm, in-person in Presque Isle or virtual. This event requires pre-registration.

The Front Porch Social is cancelled for Friday, September 18th. Join us next week!

Join us on Monday, September 21, from 1–2 p.m. as we welcome Mary Harbison, MEd., LSW for a Monday Mini Talk about what documentation is needed to apply for Long-Term MaineCare.

Whether you’re considering residential care or nursing home care for yourself or a loved one, this is a great opportunity to learn more, prepare ahead, and ask questions.

It was an honor to recognize our local first responders on the 25th anniversary of 9/11…one of the most trying times for our country. Like those that rushed to the WTC on that horrible morning, these men and women step up when our communities need them, again and again. And we are forever grateful.
